Hello everyone.

Just a quick hello from me (Andy) and Debbie.
We will be picking up our first motorhome next week and must admit we are rather excited to get out and about.
We are picking up a 6 berth Elddiss Autoquest 180. I'm sure Ill get used to driving it but on the test drive it was like driving the biggest wagon on the planet.
We have been in the package holiday scene for many years but as the kids have got older we thought it might be nice to get out an about by road and see what's out there a little closer to home.
Hopefully this will be the start of the best adventure ever.
I look forward to getting to know you all
Andy.

Welcome Andy & Debbie! We hope the collection/handover goes smoothly. Where are you going on your maiden tour? Welcome to the world of motorcaravanning!

Hi Andy - the handover can be information overload if you haven't had a motorhome previously. It's a good idea for one of you to go through everything & the other to take notes for later reference. Better still if you have a video camera so one can record what is going on. Wishing you many happy miles.

Just to echo the welcome from Lizzie and John. It's great to have you both along.
Most people start with a few odd nights near home, to get used to the van and its equipment. Then, when you plan that first proper tour, remember that motorhomes, unlike caravans, are at their best when actually TOURING, rather than staying for a week or more on one site. Many of us don't even think of sites as the places we "spend our holiday." The holiday is all the different things we do, and places we go, during the day - then we just need somewhere safe and legal to cook, sleep, and maybe fill up with water. Since your van is pretty well self-sufficient, and you've paid a lot of money for it, why pay again for facilities you've already got on board?
Take a look at the "Nightstops" on here (link on the front page), and consider joining www.britstops.com , then when the time comes to venture across the Channel you'll be used to how it works over there.
Enjoy your new lifestyle!
(BtW, you won't have to jump through the security hoops next time you post, I've upgraded you as genuine motorhomers).

Thank's very much for the welcome. Tomorrows the big day and we pick the beast up. Very exciting. Were off to Kent next weekend and can't wait. :)

Make sure you spend plenty of time on the "handover," and ask all the awkward questions, so that you know exactly what everything is and how it works. If a question sounds stupid and naive, ask it anyway - it's THEIR job to give you all the info you need.
And of course, when you get home and realise there's a question you forgot to ask, put it on here! Let us know how it all goes.
