Hi people

Just thought i would share a wee bit of informations about a nasty virus going round

I was working on my computer and this Vista Internet Security 2010 came up and said i had 29 virus and trojans on my computer

Being very trusting with microsoft stuff i thought ok update

After a while i noticed that it was just going round in circles

and it was asking me to purchase the new update.

After a while i got a bit fed up and tried to get on the internet and found i couldnt get on

I tried the mrs computer and she googled the so called programme only to find it was a virus. looking into it a little more it came up with a malware programe which you down load

anyway after an hour it all fixed but i thought i let some of you good people know if you dont know about it already

keep a look out even the best anti virus programmes dont pick it up first

What you had was not a Microsoft application!

Security Essentials is Microsfts current AV program.

From a recent security alert email.

"Vista Internet Security is a fake security application from the same family of the rogue anti-spyware programs known as Vista Internet Security 2010"

There has been a spate of popups that that claim you have a virus and encourage you to do a scan of your system. Invariably they report that you have virus and Trojans and you need to down load a program to eliminate the threat.

My experience suggest that they load their own threats, some more serious than others.

Don't under any circumstances press the scan button, Try backspace to control f4 or control alt delete to close your browser, and start again.

I had that and after a short while was suspicious so I did an ESET Security sweep and 50 minutes later it declared nothing found and nothing fixed

It came up when using Photobucket

Another one doing the rounds claims to be from a parcels delivery firm (U.P.S. in my case)stating they cannot deliver a packet due to problems with your recipient address and asking you to download an invoice or some such document. DON'T !
