Volkswagen has announced that it will pay ‘substantial compensation’ to US car owners affected by the diesel emissions scandal. The news came in a California court, where the judge said that the settlement is expected to include an offer to buy back affected cars. The car maker and regulators have until late June to agree all the final details of the pay out.

Don't hold your breath for the UK Owners :woohoo:

news flash [not] 95% of all diesel cars apparently break the NOX limits set in the EU .. WORSE given their so called purity .. latest test state plenty of petrol engined cars that were tested , would not pass the NOX emissions levels of the last century!!!!. they BOTH pollute more in NOX than claimed ..

i have a VW that is awaiting recall, when i was contacted by letter it said my car would need a software update and they was hoping to implement the repair by the first quarter of 2016 which i took to mean Jan-March,this week i received another letter saying that due to the volume and complexities of the different engine variants affected technical measures require in-depth analysis and extensive testing in conjuction with relevant independent authorities before they can be released and implemented,so i think this problem is going to take quite some time to sort out.One thing did cross my mind was that if i wanted to trade my car in for a newer vehicle how would this problem affect the trade in price for my car, after all the dealer is not going to want it sitting on his forecourt too long and how does he get a sale knowing the car is awaiting a recall with no definite date for repair.

because EU emission standards are different to the USA .USA NOX limits are some 5 times lower than those set in the EU.. but their CO limits are 4 times higher than the EU . basically they've chosen petrol and have over looked the fact that CO has always been an big health hazard but everyone now turns a blind eye maybe everyone brains already been deadened by CO!!!!!
