Water connection

I wonder if anyone can advise me, please?

When we connect our aquaroll’s pump to the ‘van, it is difficult to get the two tabs to tightly hold the (Carver Crystal) socket in to the housing – water often leaks and we have to jiggle the socket around to, if we are lucky, stop the leak. I’ve bought new tabs and a new pump/pipe/socket part but have the same problem.
The two tabs are a push-fit into the housing and I do not see how these could ever hold a socket in place.

Any help greatly appreciated.

Another thing to check is whether or not the water pipe is properly connected to the connector, mine came lose and sprayed water everywhere. My kids thought that it was brilliant jumping through the spray.

We had the same problem every time we changed the Aquaroll. It took forever to get a seal.
The clips also had a tendancy to bend or break, sometimes leaving a bit in the hole which had to be punched through into the body to clear the hole. We always carried a supply of spare clips.
Our caravan now has a Truma pump which has a different connecting system and we now have no problems.
If we changed cravans we would not buy one with the carver type system again that is how much we disliked the carver type

Not as such, but, as I said, we've tried a completely new plug.
The water pipe is not loose on the connector - in any case the leak is between pluig and 'van.

I still don't see how the clips are supposed to hold the plug tight since the clips are a loose fit - can anyone explain?

What part of the socket did you replace?
I assume the leak is outside between the plug and socket rather than inside?
Have you checked the non return valve in the inside pipe isn't sticking causing an excess back pressure which then blows the plug off?
Best of luck.

It was the plug we replaced, not the socket. Yes, leak is between plug ans socket and SEEMS TO BE CAUSED BY THE LOOSE CLIPS WHICH IN MY OPINION HAVE LTTLE CHANCE OF HOLDING PLUG TIGHTLY - HOW ARE THEY SUPPOSED TO?
Valve is OK.
Many thanks for all suggestions/replies so far..

Hello Guss,

THe pins/clips/tabs/flags, or whatever you want to call them should be a firm fit into the housing in the caravan wall. They should be strong enough to retain the pump's plug and hose under normal usage.

It sounds as though the flags are not being held properly in the housing which in turn is not securing the hose and plug.

Without seeing the housing it s not possible to know for sure, but I suspect you may need to replace the housing in the caravan.

The product was superseded in the early noughties after Carver sold its Leisure products division to Truma at the turn of the century. You might be lucky and find a dealer with and old stock housing on the shelf.

There are now several alternative products available now from a number of manufacturers.

Hello ProfJohnJ

Well that does make sense, thank you. Is relapcing the housing a difficult job? Can I retain my existing pump/plug unit if I go (maybe have to) for another make?
