Water Heater Fault?

We have just taken our van out of winter storage and I'm getting it ready for or first outing of the year and I seam to have a problem with the water heater.

The van is an Elddis Avante with a Truma Ultrastore water heater. When filling the hot tank for the first time it fills OK with air coming out of the hot tap but when it reaches full the water just gushes out of the clear tube at the top of the tank and flows out under the van and only a trickle reaches the hot tap. The clear tube also seemd to gush water when the cold tap is used as well. Could I have a faulty valve somewhere?

We only purchased the van last Aug. so are really beginers but all was fine with it before it went into storage ( and yes it was drained completely).

Any advice would be much appreciated.

Steve,

Had a similar problem, but with a Carver Cascade water heater.

A temporary 'fix' was to keep all hot taps shut and only fill the cold system then using other means to heat water. This at least kept me going until I could get the system repaired without having to refill the Aquaroll every ten minutes. Not ideal but better than nothing.

The 'tee' piece which the clear pipe connects too is the one way valve,it should sit vertically with the clear pipe doing a u-turn down through the floor. If it's not vertical then the valve cannot work correctly, (it's designed to let air in while draining), other than that it might need replacing but give it a few taps first!

Thanks for this Gary, this is exactly what the problem was. I asked the question of my local dealer, Robinsons of Chesterfield who kindly gave me a new valve to try and bingo! I now have hot water and a dry driveway.
