Water heater

We bought a new Challenger in 2012 with the new combi boiler which heats the van and the water. We have found that the system is now good at heating the water. It takes up to 1 hour to heat the water after somebody has a shower, even with gas on it takes 45 minutes. Having complaint to Swift it's answer was that there is nothing wrong and was very unhelpful
Does anybody else have a problem with their water heating?

I am wondering why if you bought the van in 2012, it has taken you to 2014 to find a "fault" with the heating?

Hi we complained to Swift just after we bought the van and all we got was a standard letter with a printout of the spec of the combination boiler. We also complained to our dealer, they told us that we need to run the system on gas and electricity. At the first service we asked them to look at the water heating system, was told all was OK, nothing wrong with so we assumed that must be how it works.

Hello ViT.

Welcome to the forum.

It seems like you were expecting the water heater to provide instantaneous hot water?. Sadly that is virtually impossible in the context of a touring caravan, for a variety of technical and legal reasons, so we have to accept the limitation of using a storage water heater that does take some time to reheat. 30 to 60 minutes is quite typical depending on the heat sources used.

You will probably also find other caravan based products that to do not perform as rapidly as normal domestic equipment. The reason is that most of these appliances need to use power, and power in caravans is far more limited than at home, so we just have to be a little more patient.
