Water Hog

Hi
We are just getting our caravan ready for this season, and it is going in for its service next Wednesday.
I was just wondering what you all do with you water hog, after it has been in storage through the winter months.
Last year, I put a couple of milton sterilising tablets in the bottom and half filled it with water and left it for a couple of hours and then rinsed it out thoroughly. Any recommendations would be much appreciated. Thank you

Hi Adria542
We do the the very same. Some milton in the hog along with half a barrel of water pump it through the water pipes of the van leave for a couple of hours and then flush out with clean water. And we have never had any problems with tainted water. We do this at least once a year ..

Douigie....

We never bother as we never drink the water from the caravan taps. Secondly when you put your caravan in storage although you drained it down, there would still be water residue left in the caravan's pipeworks. Over the past few months this would have become severely tainted with loads of bacteria. So unless you sterilise the pipes in the caravan also, sterilising the water barrels is a bit futile.
