The water observation on our holiday.

Now this is my second time out with the van and was amazed on how much we waist water at home, nearly twice a day I fill my water barrel up and we did not use our shower.

We went out to dine every day, I cant make it out 2 barrel fulls a day.

Have you only got a tiny barrel?

We fill ours up probably every day as it seems to last about a day and a half, and we don't use the shower either.

I suppose, as time went on, we started to automatically limit our water use - eg when washing up or cleaning our teeth - so that we weren't filling up our aquaroll twice a day!!

Reg are you sure you havent got a hole in your bucket, a whole barrel every day. Ours lasts around 2 days and it then always runs out when Im about to have a wash!!

At the moment we use one everyday, mainly due to washing up in the van, when we go to Sandringham for a fortnight her that has to be obeyed will shower in the van, so l expect it will need refilling before days out unless l do the main wash of pots at the amenities.

Shall probably do that so l can have a good natter as the person's l only ever see doing the washing up are us fellows.

No doubt you will already have thought of this one but just in case.......Have you checked underneath the 'van for leaks while the pump is running?

We are full timing at present and we only use half a barrel per day on average.

I also have two barrels so swapping over when they run out as your washing your hair (as they do!!)is an easy task.

I also use two wastemasters for the same reason.

usually 6 of us in the van 4 children 17, 17, 15 and 9 as well as 3 dogs, we have 1 x 50l water hog, upgraded from aqua roll. We do all cooking, hot drinks, diluted squash drinks, teeth cleaning, hand washing and washing up in van but no showers. We fill ours twice a day. Kids have to fill it as it encourages them not to leave the tap running when cleaning teeth.

The only time that our Aquaroll is ever empty is when I'm in the shower and have just used the shower gel to get covered in suds :0(

We have a simple solution. We have a 10 litre plastic watering can that we fill every time one of us goes past the tap - then use it to top up the Aquaroll.

We hardly ever run out, and filling that seems so much easier than taking the Aqua roll to the tap everytime it gets empty.

we would normally only use 1 barrel(40ltr) every 2 days, but then we would normally do a big dish wash, and shower and wash ourselves in the amenity building, and only teeth etc at night in the van.

Although fully serviced, with food grade hose etc cant be beaten.

We fill the onboard tank on arrival and the aqua roll on top.My OH and I take turns with the emptying and filling. Then from there it's one a day. I always shower in the van, Wash up in the van. From full to me having a shower Tap on Tap off Etc (including washing my hair)uses 30% of our water. Where poss We are happy to pay extra for fully a serviced pitch. For us it's worth it.Coming from Scotland where there is never a water shortage I just can't adjust.
