hi can some one please help we got our abbey oxford 1991 about 4 years ago the pump was not working right so we got a new one it the one with a inlet and 2 prongs which worked fine until we cmae to us it again it is making a noise and seems to be pumping water in to tank but we haev no water from hot or cold tap at all there seem to be no blockage but i think we may have left the pump running for a lot longer then the 15 min it say would this be our prob do we need yet another new pump we are new to all this as u can see thank u

Hello Kerry,

I fear you may have damaged the pump. Submersible pumps need water to actually flow through them to keep the properly cooled.

However, it is just possible you have got an air lock, and by getting rid of it may allow the pump to work, subject to the above note.

When dropping the pump into the water container, you can get an air lock inside the pump. This is a bubble of air that surrounds the impeller, and whilst it is there the pump will not collect or pump water.

The simplest way of preventing it, is to unplug the pump hose from the side of the caravan, and then drop the pump into the water. Then reconnect the pump hose to the caravan.

Try it and it may work, but if the pump has been running with no water delivery for more than about a minute it can easily be damaged.
