Water Pump not working. Please help.

Our 2015/16 Bailey Unicorn Madrid was serviced last March 2020. And because of Covid has not been used. I’ve put it on a pitch today to use. Plugged in the power. All the electrics seem fine, fridge, microwave lights are all on. I’ve connected the aquaroll. But when I switch the pump power switch on, nothing happens. I’ve checked the dump water valve, checked pump connection. Have I forgotten the obvious? The only thing that springs to mind is the copper connection points on the outside, are not shinny clean, could that be the problem? Thanks in advance for your help. PS I appreciate the water pump is in the off position in the photo, but even when it fails to illuminate or pump water. No noise whatsoever.

If the pump has not been used for around a year now, it is possible that the impeller has seized up.

That leaves you with two possibles.

1. If you can get to the impeller try moving it with a small screwdriver to free it up. As it is , or will be, pumping potable water do not use any lubricant on it, especially WD40 .

2. Buy a replacement pump.

Impeller is easy to get to under the plastic shroud-worth cleaning the contacts andmaking sure they are making contact ie not bent in ward etc. Try a 12 battery direct to the contacts too?

Cleaned the contacts, still not working. Took the filter cover below impeller, which seems too move when pushed.

Tried the pump with tap open and pump on. Listened and looked at impeller, no movement. Inside the van, apart from dump switch, nothing to move or tap. Looks like I may need a new Whale Pump Assembly EP1612 - High Flow at a whopping £48.00 plus delivery. unless you know of cheaper?

The 1st thing to do is to make sure you have 12v at the inlet by using a multimeter or 12v test lamp, if you have 12v then it is a problem with the pump if the impeller is free moving you then know the pump is no good, you can get a replacement pump and connect it to your hose and block, do a Google search for whale high flow pump around £40 including delivery

I always carry a spare pump, I think one is now 10 years old and a Whale to Truma fitment for my Coachman that is now two years old. The whale unit has its pipes wrapped in insulation for the winter, in case of freezing. temps. Belts and braces.
