I recently bought a great Hobby excellent easy 540 but it only has internal water tank of 22 litres and no external source.

Can anyone help with ideas increasing this. Can it be converted etc .

I would appreciate advice.

If your 540 has the Fiamma Rolltank that needs to be lifted into a locker door on the side of the caravan, I have converted this to a Fiamma 70 litre permanent in-board tank.

It very much depends upon your DIY skills but the main tasks are:

Very carefully measure the space at your disposal, if you do have a Rolltank you need to remove the plastic base that it sits on.

This should leave an empty space with just the Reich pump and this will be re-used.

Given the dimensions measured by yourself, check for the largest tank that can be accommodated.

Fit the tank into this space and utilise the existing pump. This may lead to inaccurate water level readings as the probe may not reach right to the bottom of the new tank.

The more difficult decision is how do you intend to fill it?

On mine I used the camper van style lockable filler cap but this does mean cutting a hole in the side of the caravan to accommodate it.

An overflow tube is also needed from the top of the tank through the caravan floor.

A tube from the bottom of the tank with a drain tap to the underfloor is also desirable so you do not need to pump the water out using the caravan taps.

If yours is not a Rolltank but is a fixed 22 litre tank, with an external filler cap, then life is much simpler.......just measure up for the largest tank that will fit.

The Fiamma 70 litre tank comes with multiple blanked inlet/outlet positions and full fixing kit for

Philip,

At the time I did mine I bought all kit from Homestead Caravans, www.homesteadcaravans.co.uk.

They weren't the best price but I was staying at their fishing lake and they had everything in stock, and the postage saving nulled out the cheaper prices elsewhere.

The required kit is freely available and if you do a Google search on "fiamma.tanks", you will find many sources and prices.

If you can find a reasonably priced source near to your home it would be best to visit and collect.

Also if you visit the Fiamma site you will find all the dimensions to enable you to check that the tank will fit. If it won't fit there are many 40/50 litre tanks available.
