Be aware that if of that age the awning fabric may start to fall apart if it has been used a lot.

Fabsil is probably the best known proofing agent, avoid using the spay cans for a complete re-proof.

Fabsil is a silicon proofer and there is another product called Fabsil Gold that was developed for use on Nylon type fabrics as oppeosed to tradition canvas or canvas like woven fabrics.

Fabisl Gold has a higher % of silicon and will do a far better job at proofing the Awning, apart from working better it will keep water out better and for longer than standard Fabsil.

Actually soaking the fabric over an old table using a sponge or large brush will giv ethe best results, but the fabric neeeds to dry and air in a garge or shed for some time before the smell goes away.

Ammounts needed depend on the style of Fabric, I would expect to use at least two litres.

If re proofing is going to work, pay the extra for the Fabsil Gold, Spray cans and regular Fabsil are often only a short term measure.
