Waxoyl/Dinatrol

A few years ago one of the practical classics mags did a test and dinatrol came out slightly better. They have a spay that dries to a stiff waxy finish which I use on the floor pan, and a much thinner spray for the box sections. Have a look at their website.
I have used gallons of waxoyl in the past and found it a bit of a compromise between the two requirements and always need heating up or a very warm day.
I use dinatrol from aerosol cans but for a 110 you might need to buy it in bulk!

When used to go out with a 4x4 club in the Sorrie some of the LR owners said Before 'n' After Rustproofing were very good as they cleaned the car and then oven dried it. Looking at their website they do a special coating for new/nearly new Landies.
Chris, thanks for that, I won't be doing it myself but must admit was coming down on the side of dinatrol.
Clive, thanks, had a peek at their website but it's a bit far for us to go. most are saying a two day job cleaning and more importantly drying then treating so a hastle to go that far. As we're planning to keep her a long while we thought best to get her done early though and LR will only do a quick spray round and not go deep enough for what we need!

I find two differing properties are needed, one a penetrating one that seeks out every crevice and gap in spot-welded assemblies and a more tenacious one for exposed surfaces where prone to being washed and worn away. So I treat with the former then the latter where I think it is needed, I believe it is the product that seeps into the areas where the paint never could that gives the more valuable protection, Here Supertrol 001 is very good indeed , but in the Dinitrol range they used to have a similar product.
Waxoyl is okay for exposed surfaces where it leaves a reasonably tenacious film, but it is poor at the creeping process. As it cools it becomes far too readily too viscous to creep anywhere and cold its a waste of time IMO.
It is a lot of years since I last used products from Dinitrol, basically because of availability but I found them very good. I specified Supertrol treatment for the products the company I worked for produced so was able to piggy-back a private bulk order that way at prices I could not obtain retail for the other contenders so by far my greatest experience is with that. And it is excellent.

What I hadn't realised surfer is the difference in the spec of Japanese rustproofing for the home and export markets. Because they don't experience the same problems in Japan they prepare the cars for home sale to a lower standard meaning that there is the posibility that although rust free on import the rust will get hold quicker than a uk spec car.
At least with the defender we know they're hopeless rust buckets where ever they are intended for!!
