Weekend prices

It is becoming very expensive to have a weekend away in our tourer in recent times unless you join a caravan club. if you have a couple of kids and put an awning up (same charge for porch as full mind you) it can cost up to £50 for Friday night, and all day Saturday as you can`t count the Sunday by the time you have breakfast its time to get off site. With travelling costs and other things there`s not much change of £100 for the day and half spent away, there should be some sort of independent body to regulate the price rises and bring it back to the affordable hobby it used to be.

Price controls don't work in a market economy - it's all controlled by supply and demand.

The problem is that too many people have bought caravans so there's insufficient pitches to go round, which puts the price up - particularly when weekenders are away as well as holidaymakers.

Any independent body regulating prices would also have to regulate earnings and pensions - we'd all be worse off in practice.

If caravanners are paying

Surely the answer is to join one of the main clubs?

If you use your van frequently, I would have thought that you would more than recoup your subs in a very short time.

I paid

Like Martin said, join a club and then you have the choice of hundreds of CLs/CSs. There are lots with showers etc. if you must have facilities, infact some are like mini CC sites only more peaceful.
