We often travel separately to a weekend destination, my husband going from home and me travelling directly from work to meet up with him. We find that a distance of 40-50 miles works best, so that we are a decent distance from home, but can still arrive, relax and generally begin to unwind on the Friday evening.

Her Ladyship doesn't work on Fridays so we go off Friday mornings on our weekends. We sometimes go about 50 miles but are pleased to just get away and have a change of scenery. Lucksall Caravan Site on the banks of the Wye is only 3 miles away, The Leen CL 12 miles, CC site at Moorhampton 8 miles, the CC site at Bromyard 14 miles and the Forest of Dean 25 miles. Doldowlod CC site is one of my favourites, lovely dog walk alongside the Wye and also nice scenery around Rhayader Dams.

How do you rate Lucksall Crarvan Park. I am surprised tnhat you did not mention Townsends at Pembridge. Must be the best site in the whole of Herefordshire or for that matter the West Midlands.

Ian its a site Ive never been to but we have 2 lots of friends locally who use it on a regular basis. Now I have to try it. The Leen is at Pembridge too on an organic farm pitched alongside the River Arrow with a duck pond and trout pond. Its a CC Cl. Plenty of places to go with the dog for a walk. emmerson swears by it, says hes been going to The Leen for years and rallying there. Oops just checked Townsends website Ian, it would cost

You can fish/canoe from the site Ian and some nice walks locally. Living close to the site we tend to just relax.
