Anyones advice on how to proceed would be appreciated. I have now been waiting over 16wks for a new NCC Certificate. I had the weight plate on my new Lunar Quasar 546 increased by 50kg. I received the new plate 5wks after picking up my new van. I have not put the plate on the van as I have not received a new matching NCC Cert. |I have lost count how many times I have contacted my dealer, well over a dozen, each time being told something different I contacted the NCC who said they had only done this a handful of times and would have to wait until 'The Certificate Manager' came back of his holidays. Still no joy. On ringing my dealer yesterday I was told they have not done this before and are unsure how to proceed!! Why are they giving out weight plates if they cannot provide the matching relevant paperwork.?IDoes anyone have an email address or contact name for Lunar Caravans?
I know this is a reasonably common practice, friends of ours who have a swift got their new palte and cert within weeks.
My dealer has adopted a sell and forget attitude, the Ncc have not been faced with such a strange request before!! and other that a postal adress Lunar are un contactable. Its a good job my hairs already grey!!!
Has anyone had a new NCC cert before?
Any ideas.
Many thanks for reading.

We uprated our Sterling (Swift Group) and did eventually get a new NCC certificate. It didn't come to our dealer with the new plate, and after waiting a few weeks, I contacted Swift directly and they posted it out within a week.

Hi Mike
When I got my new Abbey three years ago the plate on it showed the uprated weight but the certificate was the 'normal' rate. I hadn't asked for the upgrade but thought it usefull to have the opportunity of using the greater capacity. I contacted Swift direct about this as they provided the cerificate (and the plate) in the first place. They gave me the option of either a new plate, to match the certificate or a new certificate to match the plate. From start to finish the whole episode to about one week including the time in the post. Sorry I can't help you with Lunar's address but I think contacting them direct is the best route. Perhaps Damian or one of the other Mods may have their address (if they are still in business).

Just updated my Swift Challenger. Plate went to dealer and when I enquired about the NCC Cert they said said they only ever received the plate and had never ever been sent anything with it.. I contacted Swift who maintained they always sent the NCC Cert - they sent me a certificate to replace the one I never saw.

Hi Mike,
We have purchased two Lunars from new (Clubman and Spirit) and requested weight upgrades. In neither case did we receive an NCC Certificate.
It took 6 months to obtain the first plate and I was of the opinion that I would run out of life expectancy, before the certificate arrived As a result I did not pursue either case with Lunar.
I'm working on the assumption that if I get stopped then only the plate will be checked!
