Whale Shower Tap Ice Up

Swift Challenger 480 2000 Model.

Whale Elite shower tap has a design fault which will not allow a complete drain down. The tap has a three port water connections. One hot feed, One cold feed. The third is the mixed water outlet to shower head. The shower head feed is a separate unit which has to be fed by piping which is usually consealed under plastic soap units. This is formed by a pipe running from shower tap outlet to the shower head feed unit, which forms a u-bend. Therefore this then will not allow a complete draindown and water remains in the u-bend and thus into tap. £70 pounds of cost to me this last winter plus refitting charge.

Whale by what I've seen in later vans have a re-designed tap.

I have to disagree that it is a Whale design fault.

There is nothing wrong with the design or manufacture of the MT0140 shower system.

What is at fault is the way caravan manufacturers fit it.

The remote shower connection should be higher that the mixer tap, which would allow proper draining.
