Been in France for 4 weeks now and the water pump has started to run continuosly. The pressure rises until the water is forced out the back of the pump hose outside the van. Tried to reset to no avail. Can't se the model number of the controller but don't think it's the latest intelligent one as there is no access to a pressure switch on the back by the outlet as shown on the whale diag. I'm guessing that the(internal) pressure switch is stuck and it will have to wait until I get home. the van is Elldis 530 xplore,2014. Shall have to control via the pump power switch. Anyone any other solution please?

Thanks sprocket but can't do that till tomorrow and am loath to waste another day. Might email them tho. Bit difficult not having a model no. Prob wait till I get home.
With that age of van I would expect the Whale pump inlet to have their Intelligent Controller fitted. This is a yellow block about matchbox size mounted on the 'inside' of the pump connecor block. If so, you can see the instructions for resetting etc. On the Whale website.
I had similar problems with this type of pump on my 2013 Elddis Avante. As you say the pressure build up tends to push the pump cconnection apart with only the friction on the O rings and a not very good mechanical latch in the form of the cover.
I became fed up with the constant small leaks and short life of these pumps and have converted to an on board pump, but using the same connection as the water inlet. Being Elddis the inlet housing is bonded into the bodywork so changing or replacing it is not as easy as it should be.

Yes I agree it looks like bathe intelligent controller but the instructions on the website show a pressure switch adjuster which I cannot see on mine. Ash you say the pressure pushes the inlet off and the pump just ire keeps running. If it only lasts this long before failing I'm not very impressed.
contacted Whale today on our return to UK. They think it is the microswitch in the controller and are sending a replacement free of charge. Nice service but I'd rather not have gone 2 weeks without water. hey ho.
Got the van out so I could change the microswitch today. Reassembled and no change; water just blows out the back of the caravan inlet(and the inside of the inlet). Removed the 4 screws from the outside of the inlet connector and removed the non-return valve to see if it was blocked. blew through it easily enough and reassembled it all. Turned on the pump and just the same. Checked new and old micro switch and they are both serviceable so completely baffled. Turn on the tap and water comes out and leak is reduced. Turn the tap off and leak is greater, pump runs till tank is empty. I thought the ic was supposed to turn off the pump when the pump ran dry but it doesn't. I await a reply from Whale
Ray, what type of pump did you fit and how did you adapt the inlet? If I have to buy a replacement for mine then I might as well buy one that lasts a bit longer.

just goes to show that you should check the SIMPLE things first.....
The hose had detached inside the connector. 2 screws to undo, push the hose back on and replace the screws; simples.
Think the cause may have been someone pulling the connector out by the hose instead of the block, don't know who that might have been. ;-)
