It looks a potentially useful accessory particularly for protecting the pump, although I seem to recall a similar piece of kit being advertised which you wired into the system and might have hav ereplaced the OEM pressure switch. However although we have experienced some pressure fluctuations they havent really affected the ability to use the water system including shower. Our existing pump is about 11 years old too. Our van has a clearly visible pump running light and we switch off when out or in bed.

In the film, Whale make the statement that you won't need a surge damper. I'm not sure that is true;-

Where you have a storage water heater, they invariably have a non return valve fitted to their cold water input port. This means that the hot tank will fill to the cold water pressure, but as the water is heated, the water expands, and consequently will raise the pressure in the hot system.

When any mixer tap is opened, the increased pressure in the hot tank will feed the tap, and prevent the cold water pressure dropping, delaying the point when the pump will run. Consequently you may get a slug of hot water before the cold water pump turns on.

There is a very good pressure switch made by Mid Service Centre that is properly
engineered and works perfectly, it even switches off the pump to protect
it if you run out of water. They advertise regularly in the CC magazine. It costs £44 including VAT and delivery.

It’s more expensive than a ‘standard’ switch but worth the extra. You can contact them on 0121 354 5552 or tc@msc.tc

The Mid Service Centre pressure switch also eliminates the need to adjust the pressure switch according to state of the battery charge - it's easily transferred when you change caravans.
However, MCS no longer seem to market the pressure switch http://mcsboatproducts.co.uk/products/

Eventually went ahead and ordered one of the MSC pressure switches as every weekend we have to adjust the one in our caravan. Apparently theses MSC pressure switches are now been fitted to all Bailey and Coachman caravans.

I for one would be interested to know how well they work to cure the problem of fluctuating battery voltage.
Can you let us know?
