I have been plagued with running-on, clicking, and pulsing of the Pressure Switch ever since I bought my caravan new three years ago. In desperation I have now bought a Whale Surge Damper to try and alleviate the problem. But the fitting instructions are ambiguous. Does anyone know if the Damper should be fitted between the Pump and the Pressure Switch, or on the tap side of the Pressure Switch? Or should I be removing the Pressure Switch altogether? I just know that one of you clever guys will have the answer! Many thanks. From Grandadboilersuit.

You fit it on the tap side of the pressure switch, as close to the switch as possible, and before any 'T' to the hot water boiler or other appliance. I fitted one a few months ago and it significantly improves the situation.

PS The surge unit has to be fitted vertically to work correctly.

camper is correct, re the fitting. My senator has one fitted as standard (2004 model).

However you will still get running on, and clicking.

Running on until pressure required is reached. Also if you forget to switch of at night, the odd click click, as again the pressure is made up.

Basically the surge unit is as its name suggests, so don't expect too much.

Hi David

We fitted one of these a couple of months ago and it made a HUGE difference to the system. To the point of considerably improving our holiday as we didn't constantly have to try and adjust a very sensitive pump. Worth every penny.
