A junior cycle road race in Wales has had to be rerouted and some stages dropped because in 20 mph speed zones the support vehicles are restricted to 20 mph, whilst there is no speed limit on cyclists. The support vehicles cannot keep up. The residents have taken over the asylum 😱

It seems quite a few places in England and Scotland either have a 20 limit or are considering it.

That’s right but my son lives in south wales and there are long stretches of main road that used to be 30 mph through built up areas but are now 20 mph. In June we travelled through Wales to Snowdonia and it became a bit of a grind given the many places that 20 mph limits. There was talk that local councils could restore the 30 mph limits where appropriate but where that initiative is I’m not sure.

Coincidentally this weeks local gazette reports that the Local Roads Policing unit clocked 18 drivers exceeding the 20mph speed limit in the market town of Corsham. 17 were spoken to, 1 was reported. The police said that officers of the unit had discretion on what action to pursue

It wasn't so much the 20 mph limits that annoyed me when towing through Wales a couple of months ago, it was the constant changes in speed limit. I swear that on numerous occasions the limits went from 20 to 30 to 40 to 60 (50 towing) to 40 to 30 to 20 within half a mile. Invariably I was accelerating uphill, then having to brake to decelerate down hill.
