Hi

My dad is 80 and lives in Kingston upon Thames in Surrey. He phoned me last night becuase he has seen new signs being placed around the borough. A Big ( E with control Area). When he asked the men putting up the signs what was this all about. They said "Its Red Kens £25 pound a day tax Mate". He went away scratching his head and phoned me down here in Worthing West Sussex.

Can someone put some light on this so I can tell Him?

LEZ - London Emmission Zone - came into force this month covers the area inside the M25 but not the M25 itself.

It applies to motorhomes, vans and HGVs - if the emissions rating recorded on DVLA against the registration number are outside the prescribed limits, then the ANPR cameras will issue automatic fines of

Motorhomes under 2.5 tonnes are not included in the charge,if your motorhome meets the Euro III std you not have to pay the charge.

Vehicles first registered as new with the DVLA on or after 1 October 2006 are assumed to be Euro IV, so will meet the LEZ emissions standards.

But if the people let him get away with this. Whats to stop him then bring in charges on large cars 4x4 etc how far could it go.

Yes its is,but they have extended the zone beyond the normal London congestion zone paving the way to expand that.

The bad news is that 4X4's & the so called gas guzlers ARE red Kens next target!

and yes it is a stealth tax, just think about it for a minute? you pay roadfund license

you pay fuel tax

you pay VAT on you fuel tax

you pay insurance premium tax @ 17.5% but they can't call it VAT!

AND NOW you pay a congestion charge to enter London!

can't wait for home time, exit London & back to West Sussex (Littlehampton, we're almost neighbours Steve!)

The Monster Raving Looney Party have a policy on traffic in London in their manifesto:

Makes more sense to me than TFL and Ken's policies.

What Red Ken has failed to realize is that when we lorry drivers deliver to London and we get fined - every day, every delivery - we don't absorb the cost , it is passed onto our customers. Our customers pass on the costs to their customers - Kens electorate - and that is one of the reasons it is so expensive to live in London. I would love every haulier to refuse to deliver within the M25 for one week - see how popular Mr Livingstone would be then!
