Hi

Yesterday I had two new tyre's fitted on our van, when I turned it round in the road and climbing back up the aluminum ramps onto the causeway and into the garden, I heard on of the drive rollers spinning, what is the correct distance that the drive roller is set at to maintain correct grip on the tyre ?

Many thanks

Steve.

Hi Del

its on the front of the axle ( single axle ) and the van weighs 1600kg mgw

When climbing up the ramps its equivalent to 1 in 4

It managed it on the old tyre's ok

thanks

Steve.

The gap should be 20mm.

It does happen that on brand new tyres sometimes the rollers may slip due to the oily finish of the tyre, and it may well make a squealing noise sometimes until the newness has worn off.

Powrtouch used to supply a high-tec bit of wood 20mm square for you to test the gap. this should be a tight fit. once you have adjusted the gap apply the rollers once or twice and then check again - unless you get things real tight the force of applying the roller can open the gap.

Thanks everyone for your answers, I have moved it to 20mm from the tyre, used a block & tightened as suggested, and put a visible mark on the chassis so I can see if it does start to creep again,

Many thanks

Steve.
