What should I expect?

Had problems with our Truma Fridge. Booked it in to be investigated, they were unable to fix it and we were told we could have a new one under warranty. Fine.

I collected it and took it straight back to storage. We went over to it today and the wife is miffed that the old salad box, shelving and racks are inside the new fridge.

She thinks we should have had a new fridge per se, including all the bits inside. I'm inclined to think they will only replace the bit that does not work - i.e. the carcas a it were.

Just wondering what others would expect?

I must admit Timbo that I too would have expect not only a new fridge but also new shelving and racks to be included.

Maybe the dealer is trying it on and kept the new shelving for future use to boost profits.

I wonder what would have happened if you had taken the shelving out in your old fridge.

Hello Timbo,

The dealer is within his rights to that, Basically, a cutomer can only expect to have product repaired to a condition that would be teh same as if the fault had not occurred. I assume the problem was with the fridge's coolant system not the racks. so only the coolant system needed to be repaired or replaced.

I do agree that it seem penny pinching, but that is all you are entitled to under the sale of goods Act.

I'd be miffed too. Speak to you dealer and tell them u are returning the old bits and want the new bits. Bloody cheek !!!. A fridge is a fridge including its internal fittings. They are taking the mik. No way do u get half a replacement . chancers !! Think about it ? what does a new shelf cost ? what does a new salad box cost ? You dealer now had these items in stock . Yep YOUR items . Chancers (sorry to repeat my self)

It doesn't seem unreasonable to me, although I agree it is penny pinching.

I suspect it has nothing to do with the dealer.

If the engine fails under warranty in your car, you don't get a new car.

When my Blackberry failed last week, Orange sent out a replacement next day, but I had to take the battery AND battery cover off my old one before the courier took it away.
