Hi all,

We need a new awning for our swift challenger 530 se. It is on a 2002 but I am unsure of what size I require.

Is there anywhere on the van I will be able to find out? I would hate to spend money and buy the wrong one!!

Thanks, Gavin

Hi Gavin.
There is a website ( "cuddles/van data"),that lists your awning size as being 946cms(but I wouldnt take that as gospel)
I think the only surefire way to measure your awning size is from the ground on the left hand side below awning rail all the way around to the ground beneath the right hand side awning rail.
Hope this helps.

Hello Gavin,
As Swift direct or join the Swift forum, and hopefully one of the Swift employed techies will be able to confirm the size for you.

Gavin. I gave a full awning to a friend but it didn't fit their van. Assuming they haven't passed it on to someone else and it fits your van (it might) and you live somewhere in the east midlands and can collect it, and you are happy with second hand (but hardly used), it could be yours. Don't want anything for it.
When you work out the size post again. If you are interested i'll find out if my mate has still got it.

I must comment on Sprokets last post.

Sadly both the sites he points to are third party sites and as such the information contained in them has been hand entered, and may include erroneous information. By all means use them as a rough guide, but before spending money do check either by measuring or asking the dealer or manufacture.

The second website linked to by Sprocket contains a diagram which displays the correct method of measurement to use when choosing an awning.
To remove any vestige of doubt I will reproduce it

Take a length of string or twine and measure from point A, inside the awning rail across point B to point C

Every caravan related forum on the internet is 'hand altered' and may, or may not contain erroneous information John.
Many of the links shown on this and other caravan forums could be described as 'third party'.

When forum posts in general are subject to almost an almost constant barrage of pedantic criticism those seeking advice rarely return to that forum when their queries are driven off topic, and those offering advice which is also frequently criticised and driven off topic as often as not decide to migrate to caravan forums where the level of scrutiny from others is rather less.
