Wheel Clamp

I have just changed my caravan and the new one has bigger wheels / tyres than the old van.

As a result my wheel clamp no lomnger fits.

When I bought the clamp if had metal plates that you had to hammer rivets into to attach to the clamp to make the clamp fit snugly to your wheel, there were several different plate sizes depending on the size of your wheel.

As the clamp is 3 years old I have thrown the other plates away but was wondering whether it would be possible to cut sections out of the plates to make them fit my new bigger wheel.

Has anyone tried this or know of a way around it or will I just have to buy a brand new clamp?

Regards

Andy

Hi Andy, I had the same problem, the piece that went over the top of the tyre was not wide enough.

I cut a piece of steel the same width and thickness and got a friend to weld it in position.

A coat of black Hammerite, job done.

If you don't work in this environment I'm sure any small engineering company would do it for you at a small cost.
