Having changed my insurance provider I now have to use a wheel clamp both at home and on site, however the wheel clamp I use at home is a pain to fit and heavy so I want one that is quick and easy to fit and light just to comply with the insurance conditions I would then use two at home where the van is most at risk.

On the Towsure website they have one called Towsure Lightweight wheel clamp ML20 anyone have experience of these for ease of fitting and weight.

Plotter

I use the said wheel clamp on my Caravan, takes about a min to get off but the wife struggles putting it on, its just a bit fiddly lining up the two parts and then pushing in the key to lock the thing whilst holding it in the right place, so now one holds it the other locks it, takes about 2 mins to get on.

We have found that providing the key lock is kept clean and a little grease applied there are no problems with it, I had mine for about 18 months now, and I do not think it will stop the determined thief, but it acts more as a visual deterrent

Regards, Bill

Thanks both,my thought is that there is little risk of the van going walkabout whilst on site hence the need for light easy fit clamp that at least complies with the insurance requirement however at home it would have a clamp on both sides.

Bill what is the weight of your clamp.

Pass on the weight, top of my head i was say 3-5 kgs but unfortunatley the van is in storage about 10 miles from home, so its not as if I can *** outside and take it off ans quickly weigh it, however I have to go up to the storage site this week, so I will try to get the weight for you.
