Hello

My husband and I are new to caravanning and are taking our first trip this weekend. We are booked on a CC site for four nights but don't know whether or not to take the wheel lock. Is it just for use at home or do people use them when away. Can anyone advise.

Thanks

Margaret

Margaret,

Take the Wheel Locks with you as your insurance may become invalid if they are not fitted whilst away. I always fit the Hitchlock and Wheel Clamp on site and in storage,

best regards, Martin

Hello Margaret

As Martin has said, take the wheel locks with you and fit them. I don't know what level of insurance cover that your caravan has but any policy would be invalidated if you hadn't fitted the wheel lock / clamp.

Never make things easy for caravan thieves, any visible security just might swing the balance in your favour.

Good luck on the 'maiden voyage'

Good luck Margaret this week end.

Some people will enjoy watching newbies setting up for the first time (we all did it once).

If you are having problems dont be afraid to ask for help. A lot of people dont like to interfear in case they are rebuffed,

or mention it to the wardens on arrival, Im sure if they are not busy they will help site you.

Hello

We would like to thank everyone for the advice we've been given. No doubt we'll have a few hiccups setting up but as you say everyone had to do it once.

Hopefully we'll manage without too many problems and we'll ask for help if needed.

Thanks again.

Hello

Well we're back from our first trip and I have say everything went according to plan (a first for us I can assure you!).

Hubby managed to reverse the caravan with no problems and it took just over an hour to get set up. Not bad me thinks.

The only problem we had was the weather - we were woken up at four o'clock in the morning by gale force winds and had to abandon our break a day early. Never mind though - it's onto Seaview in Berwick in April for our next adventure.

Thanks for all your help and good wishes.

Margaret

Hi Margaret

Glad to hear that all went according to plan, it's just a shame about the weather. I hope that your hubby is firmly in the good books for reversing the caravan and setting up ok.
