Wheelclamps - useless

Through a combination of circumstances last weekend I drove off the pitch with the wheelclamp attached.

Fairly stupid I know, but what really surprised me was there was no indication I had done it - no resistance and no noise until I heard the clamp dragging under the van.

The wheel had simply gone over the clamp bending the arm as it did it.

Ours was not gold secure but was the next one down, as it did it this easily I expect the same could be done with any of them.

I had heard this mentioned before on car websites but had not taken much notice.

I will have to get another one for the insurance discount but I now have no confidence in them.

Forget Wheelclamps....After a couple of gypsies were seen lurking around our house late the other night,I bought an extra clamp...We already have an..SAS sold secure gold clamp onto the alloy wheel lock...and the Alco hitch lock....the best available at the time...but in my opinion both easily cut off with a gas torch....

Just bought the JSB Hublock...what a piece of bullet proof kit that is...a bit heavy and expensive...and you have to take the wheel off..its like a winter wheel stand....But ideal for keeping the van safe at home....I come from an engineering background and I would say its just about impossible for anybody ..with any sort of equipment whatsoever ..to get that off without the special key.....Time will tell.....But i would think one look at it and thieves will go elsewhere....unless they winch the whole van onto a trailer..and even that wouldn't be easy..with one "square wheel"
