Nothing special this year, I'm afraid, due to commitments here. We'll do all eight Royale Club rallies, and perhaps 4 weeks in August/September. Lake District, Scotland, Yorkshire and finish up in Cheshire for the Club's AGM in October. plus odd days mid week when we can. Other than that, it's going to be a quiet year.

Enjoy yourself, and travel safely.

Our first trip out this year will be to Portsmouth on 8th March to catch the Bilbao ferry to Spain on the 9th. Touring down to Guardamar, via Madrid and Albacete. We return to the UK at the end of May. Then a trip to Yorkshire (visiting family) in late June for a few days followed by a few nights in Peterborough (a great place for leaving the car and getting on our cycles)

We tend to stay at home from mid July to early Sempember (School hols) and then we plan to go down to Brittany in September (but nothing booked yet) Finally, we usually meet up with friends in October/November in York for a couple of weeks.

Our first extended tour. Sail 1st May to Calais and then spend the next three months exploring Germany, starting off with Bremen, Hamburg, Lubeck then the Baltic coast before heading south to Berlin and Dresden. After that we swing west to the Tauber then Heidelberg. Sail home early Aug and then have to decide whether or not to spend the autumn in France/Spain (it depends on whether or not we are still speaking to each other after three months in a tin box - at least that is how SWMBO puts it!)

El Delfin Verde for 16 nights commencing 14th Aug and can't wait. It is a great place and this year will be our 3rd visit there.

As suggested before, there should be a method of us identifying other forum members. I will be the one with a knotted hankie on the bald patch, black shoes and socks with union flag shorts. LOL.

End of march doing a caravan course to get used to modern caravans! April do one or two trips to get used to the van and what we need to take with us. Then *** across the channel, Portsmouth to St Malo, we live 20 mins from the ferry port. We are intending next year to go to the south of Spain in February so will take the opportunity to see how far south we can get in a day and look for a site that stays open all year. From there to Spain, then just go where the fancy takes us.

Have a few ideas from this forum and have a few books to guide us. Looking forward to many days away in the van.

Hi,

Delfin Verde seems a popular choice, anybody care to give a report on it?

We are off at end of June and into July.Travelling Hull to Zeebrugge as we found Rosyth route too expensive.

First stop for one night at Camping Municipal at Challons then further down to Le Soleil Fruite near Valance for two nights. Final stage is to Camping L'Amfora in Northern Spain for main part of holiday.

On return journey we are stopping at Domaine de L'Eperviere at Gigny for four nights then back to Camping Municipal for two nights. We used both of these sites last year and can recommend them.

Dis you consider Newcastle/Rotterdam with DFDS. They had some good deals for Car + Caravan earlier in the year.

Val& Frank,

I'm fairly sure we looked at that route and company last year and found they did not take vans. Am I mistaken or have they changed this year?

Hi Rob

They certainly took vans in August 06 Don't see why that should have changed.

So far booked three sets of Dover-Calais ferry crossings but have'nt a clue as to where to go yet. Its often a case of turn right at Dover and follow the weather.

The realy annoying thing with these cheap, sorry less expencive, crossings is that you have to state when you want to come back. Not so bad if you wish to shorten your stay but as yet never had the courage to lengthen it.
