Where is my water filter?

Hi all, just changed caravans, my old one (ABI Jubilee Viceroy) had a water filter under the flap where you plug the pump in.

My new van (Sprite Quattro 2006) has a smaller flap, underneath is just the connection for the pump, no filter, had a look inside by the water heater but can't find anything here either.

Do some vans just not have a filter?

Thanks, Jim.

I think you will find that the white cylindrical part which drops down into your aquaroll is the filter. Am I correct in thinking that you have an on-board/inboard pump?

Hi Eddie, I'm not sure, I'll have a closer look tomorrow, how do I know if it's an onboard pump, the connection on the end of the blue water pipe has two parts, the bit the water goes through and an electrical contact, which I thought meant the bit I was dropping into the aquaroll was the pump.

Thanks, Jim.

Hi Jim, if it has an electrical connection, then I think you are correct in your assumption that it's the pump which you are dropping in to the aquaroll, in which case, is there an in-line filter between that connection and the hot water tank?

Jim

Our caravan is a 2006 Abbey and that didn't have a filter. I suspect yours is the same. However it should be easy enough to fit one. The tube you are fitting in your aquaroll is the pump which if it has a filter at all will only be rudimentary. We have added an in line Whale filter in the cold pipe system. We fitted it just to the rear of the battery box. Assuming you have plastic rigid piping like us, you will need to cut a piece of pipe out and fit the filter with two push fit connectors. All this will be available in most caravan dealers and it is easier to fit than it sounds. Just make sure it doesn't freeze in winter (take it out) as they will split.

Regards

Tim

Swift do not fit filters in their vans other than the grit filters to protect the pump.

As all water on sites is safe to drink, a filter is not essential. In the 35 yesars we have been caravanning, we have never used a filter.

If you feel the need to fit one, put in an in-line one below the sink tap.

i have a Swift Charisma, and under the front seat on the front bulk head there is a white torpedo shaped affair ( before the on booard pump )that allegedly is the filter. I dont know how it works as there is only one inlet and no outlet and there is no description in the hand book.

Thanks to everyone for their help, I will see how I get on without one for a while, and then maybe consider an inline filter.

Best regards, Jim.
