Hi,

We purchased our first caravan and are in need of an awning. How exactly are these measured. We bought an Abi Trade twin axel which is about 22.5 feet in length.

Will any awning of the correct length fit it. How is it measured, etc, etc.

Thanks

Hi Amime,

The awning size is measured from the ground, around the awning rail and down to the ground - you can thread a piece of string through and measure it.

This, of course, refers to a full awning. A porch awning can be any size, as it only occupies part of the side of your 'van, but is bought in relation to the height of your 'van.

Hope this helps.

I have a Walker Esprit awning and I must say I think it is one of the best I have had. I only bought it as I saw it in the showroom on an Avondale Dart 556/6 which is what I have. I am really glad I did it is excellent.

Keep in mind that porch awnings do not fasten down the side of the van, they are only in the awning rail at the top. (Somebody please correct me if I am wrong).

Hope this helps.

Chris you are absolutely correct ,but after saying that we have just bought A Kampa 390 sport and the extra poles to go down the side of the van and I am very pleased with it .

Really looks good and easy to erect
