Hi all

My wife and I have just bought a new Elddis 505 and we are looking now to buy an Awning for it. We have been looking around but we cant decide which is best. Money is not the problem we simply want to get this right first time. I would like something that is easy to put up and will last. Can someone please help before my mind goes!!!

We were looking at the Bradcot range but today I have read bad reviews.

Thanks in advance

Hi

We had the same dilemna when we bought our Swift this year and decided that due to the high cost for something that will only fit a select few vans that we went for a porch awning and bought the new Isabella Magnum which measures 320cm wide by 230cm depth, and it doesn't take a lifetime to put up,It is excellent quality and is about 3/4 the size of a full awning plus it's lighter. There is however only two of us so it takes a small table and two chairs easily but if you have a tribe you may need a full sized one but certainly have a look at Isabella, they may be dearer but are certainly worth the extra bucks.

From what I can tell the Isabella seems to be the top of the range. Can you recommend a retailer? I have three children and would probaly go for a full awning. Does anyone have the Bradcot?

Hi I have a Bradcot Classic with easy alloy frame. Very easy to erect although I don't rate the strenght of the poles. I think for anything over 1000cm steel poles would be better although you then have the weight proplem.

We had a Bradcot with easy alloy poles , after a few trips of putting it up sort of OK, we got it just right on a trip to Cornwall this August, went up well and looked perfect, well tied down including the proper Bradcot tie down straps, we were so pleased, having a great time, then on the Tuesday night the storm came, bent the alloy poles and wrecked them, half a dozen awnings on site were destroyed including steel poled ones, the only ones that seemed to survive were the fiber glass poled ones, I know we were unlucky with the storm, never been in the caravan with it shaking like it before, but after our experience we would not go for a metal poled one again, in fact a full awning is such a bother unless your there for a week at least, we feel, we went out and got a Sunncamp Ultima 360 , it suits us perfect, just the three of us and two dogs .

Hi Paul,

"Money is not the problem...."

It's a no brainer. Go for the Isabella with the Carbon X poles. The base range starts with the Capri Lux which works well for us.

Cheers

We invested in Isabella Capri Lux full size with Carbonx poles. Well worth extra cost, we were using it August with the full force of the winds at the front of it. Only problem we had was a couple of pegs came up a bit. Two other outfits nearby lost their awning altogether through damage, so I think that speaks for itself. Also worth spending time reading erection instructions properly first and following them to the letter. A lot of problems experienced are down to incorrect erecting.
