Hi All

We have decided to buy a full awning but don't know which to buy. It would appear that Isabella is the best quality but does anyone have experience of Trio which, I understand, are made by Isabella but considerably less expensive. Any thoughts and comments would be welcome.

Regards

hi, trio pair are, as far as i know, not part of isabella,i think you mean ventura awnings..yes isabella is the creme de la creme of awnings, but are also the most expensive.always had dorema myself, and have had no problems at all,the stitching and cloth is as good as any othe awning manufacturer.have a good look round and feel of the different awnings available to get a good idea of what you are buying,as im most things, people always have different opinuions.petrsonally i would say isabella if you can afford it,then a choice from either ventura, dorema or trio.

We had a Trio Mexico awning for many years and it served us very well They are very good quality and durable.

I don't know if they are an Issabella product though.

We have a 3mtr deep INACA mirage awning now on our current van. Those are made by a company formed from ex Issabella staff. Again a very good quality all year awning and we have tested it too. We are fulltimers, and had to endure the worst winter for 30 years with the awning up all the time. The price of the awning was about

Hi,

We also have an Inaca- ours is a Siena model. Yes, the steel poles are heavy, but we often camp in open fields at dog agility events & we wanted a good strong frame. We also like it because all of the windows have zip-down blinds on the outside, which means that we can shut out the wost of the weather when we need to

Like all things in life, you pays your money & you make your choice.

Cheers,

Jim

Hi,

Your budget will be the deciding factor. We have had a pyramid awning for the last 3 years with no problems, although we don't use it much. It suits us and is reasonably priced.

Have had a full bradcot, combi bradcot and now just ordered a portico (only because it's the second smallest porch i could get) The ladder pegging system can be a pain unless you tie them on with a degree of permanence to save time. no probs with the actual awnings though.

The easiest full awning we ever had was an apache, it was a steel frame though and heavy because the whole of the front was in one piece, but on the flip side that was what made it so easy to errect with perfect results every time! It was very good quality for the price we paid, superior in my opinion to the bradcots since.

Was going to buy an NR porch as it was the size i really wanted and was happy with the quality but when it arrived they have changed the spec for 2010 but not updated the website. You need to ring them to check specs before ordering because they also have a new style full awning that is not on the website. they are a good option if you want to buy from a relatively small british company.

To be fair these days they are all much of a muchness within the price brackets as you go up and down the ranges and some will depend on how you are going to use it and how long before you trade it for another one.

Our Inaca has storm blinds too. We convert one half of our awning into a craft room for SWMBO as she loves making cards. We even have a plastic garden cuboard in there for our PC printer etc.

It's horses for coarses though and you realy do have to think long and hard about what you intend to do with your awning, as it will probably stay with the van for as long as you own it.

One thing I will say is that most sites still have hard standings geared up for 2.4Mtr deep awnings. Ours just fits our pitch and the water barrels have to go on the grass, which can cause some discussion especially if your warden is "forest grump".

However don't let them decide what you want as most times when summer touring grass is as good as hard standing and kinder to your feet.

Hi John. First think about how often and for how long you are going to use a full awning. Some folks put up a full awning at every pitch, whether it is a weekend or a month. Others, like us, put up a porch or lightweight awning at weekends and only use the full monty for stays of 2 weeks. If you are the former you will want good quality, if you are the latter you may prefer to go for the cheaper sort like Pyramid. The next factor is how long are you going to keep your van. If you change the size of your van considerably you will either need a new awning or to get the old one altered. This may influence your decision. Then you get to the bottom line, how deep are your pockets because the cost varies by as much as a grand!

happy choosing

Hi John,

I have just purchased a New Hampshire awning, made by Outdoor revolution. We had a look at most of the other makes but just didn't like the colours of them, then we came across the new hampshire and fell in love with it right away. It cost us
