My wife has just passed away and I wish to carry on caravanning as it was one of my wife's last wishes but I obviously can't hitch up by myself. To complicate things my driveway is a 1 in 4 so I would be grateful if people could advise on which motomover would be the most suitable for my situation.

Hello Michael,

I am sorry to read of your loss, I sincerely hope that you can come to terms with you new situation and still have happy memories of the time you spent together.

May I just offer some advice about choosing which mover to go for. You have a very specific need for the mover to safely handle your caravan on a 1 in 4 slope. This must include starting and even more importantly Stopping on the slope. Make it very clear to your supplier that this criteria is critical, and forms the basis of your order.

My reason for advising this, is because the seller is obliged to sell goods that are fit for purpose. If the seller is clearly made aware of the use and duty it will be put to, they then have the choice to supply if they are confident of its capability, or decline if they feel that can't guarantee it will work under the conditions you have specified. This protects both you and the seller.

Heaven forbid that it will fail, but if it does, then the seller cannot claim they did not know the use to which it was to be put, and that will strengthen any claim you have to get it repaired or replaced.

I believe that most manufacturers claim their product will over come a 1 in 4 obstetrical, but you must find out about use on a continuous 1 in 4 slope.

I am sorry to hear of your sad loss, Michael.

We have the same problem with our 1 in 4 curved driveway! After initially investing on another mover on the market we exchanged vans and opted for the Powrtouch and have been delighted with it. It comes with a 5-year no quibble guarantee and the company are a delight to deal with.

If you have any detailed queries you could just ring them beforehand and speak with them direct. They are most helpful.

If you trawl back through the Forum 'pages' you will find quite a lot has been written about the different motor movers on the market. It might with your decision.

I hope you continue to enjoy your caravanning.

Sorry to hear about your loss.

We had a powertouch mover fitted to our Bretangue las year. Our van is kept at a storage site on a sloping pitch. sorry I don't know the gradient of the slope. We have been pleased with the mover.

Hi Michael,

Hope you are recovering from your sad loss. More so congratulations that you are continuing with caravanning. We meet a lot of single tuggers and they all have no regrets continuing.

We use a Powrtouch on our ta with no problem at all. Shortly after installation it needed some minor adjustments which were carried out efficiently.

John L's points are the most important here. Tell Powrtouch exactly what your needs are before purchase, preferably in writing. It's an excellent product with good technical backup.

Cheers

Alan
