Went over to see the fitted mover today - we pick up the van on Saturday:).
Have to say it all looked very neat and tidy. All the cables routed and clipped neatly. All worked great when Darren demonstrated it for me. Well pleased. have to say that he could not have been more helpful and accomodating with the date etc. Considering that his price quote for mover -Powrtouch Evolution Manual and 110AH 3 yr warranty battery, was so much lower than I could find anywhere else, I was really impressed. I was a little wary but he insisted that I not pay until after it was fitted and I had tried it. Top marks. The caravan dealer couldn't get over the price. So would thoroughly recommend RD Auto Electrics Ltd of Derby. The price of £795 including fitting plus £80 for the battery is great too. They advertise on ebay. I can give you the item No of the powrtouch but he also supplies Ego movers.

Prof John
most of us can only speak as we find out with our own units. I haven't seen anyone complain about the opposition. However both Powrtouch and Truma owners , me included, have detailed the failures, mostly resolved by the manufacturers under guarantee- 5 years.
My Powrtouch is over 6 years old and still moves the Wyoming reasonably well.
so maybe there are tuggers out there who can say the same about other makers. I understood the gearboxes, bearings and motors are different between all the makes some using chains or gear wheels etc.

I can lay claim to ownership knowledge of two brands; a Reich purchased 14 years ago and use for 8 years and more recently a Powrtouch we have had for 6 years. Both did the job faultlessly and I know the Powrtouch continues to, I dont know if the Reich does as it went with the van. Anyway all are by todays standards old models but both are sold today looking much the same as back then.
The motor gearbox units are different, the Reich used British made products of excellent quality, I know this as I used to specify these units in engineering equipment my company made. I selected the Reich mover because of this.
The "new" van being much heavier it was not practical to switch the Reich mover over, the dealer was in bed with Powrtouch so that is what they "recommended" and supplied.
These have some unknown, unspecified motorgearbox units, but to date these have done all that was asked of them.
It is a slower operating unit having additional chain gearing to achieve the higher torque needed for the heavier van.
If buying today the choice would be difficult but probably all would be fit for purpose. I would though explore the new brushless motored Truma unit as I know the technology is potentially better.
