off soon to les sables-d' olonne but not to sure of which route to take, normally from calais we take a16,a28,a29 over the bridge at honfleur,a13 to caen ,a84 to rennes,n137 to nantes then on to les sables de olonne.but it has been suggested that from calais we head to rouen ,n138 to alencon, a28 to le mans, then head down to le sables d olonne . has any of you good people tried any of these routes.....thanks

Pete,

we usually head south from Dieppe useing the Caen, Rennes, Nantes route and have never had a problem. However last year we were advised to use the Rouen Les Mans route-it was awful, it took nearly 13 hours to get down to Royan, I can only equate it to the M1 on a Friday night. Needless to say we came back via our normal route taking just a little over 6 hours to get to Dieppe. The distance is a little further but to me easier and more relaxed.

You say you had trouble going south via the Rouen Les Mans route

what date did you travel down there?

We are travelling down from Caen on the Friday july 22nd overnight at Le Mans and on to Royan Sat morning.

Cheers.
