You will find your Fords weights in the V5. There is Maximum Permisible Mass, Mass In Service, Technical Permissible Maximum Towable Mass for unbraked and braked trailers. So a 2013 car should have all the info that you need in the V5. To remove any doubts as to its kerbweight its best to take it to a Public Weighbridge, but on two cars my MIS has been close enough to kerbweight, but items fited after the car leaves the factory will increase its kerbweight but not the MIS. But anything fitted after the factory would have to be allowed for in a reduction of the car's payload (MPM)

What utter tosh. This dealer should be asked to prove his contention. The car companies have to go through a prescribed set of tests to establish what each model can tow. Whilst the figures are often (but not always) larger than the kerbweight and are based on an ideal trailer, We must bear in mind that Caravans are far from Ideal and it makes sence to derate a cars towing capacity when considering caravans. But thats where the industry reccomendation of 85% starts to make some sence. So car companies are not lying about tow weights.

The 2010 2.0l auto Ford Mondeo will tow up to 1800kg. I would think that older or manual cars the towing weight may be even higher.
