Two absolute idiots,and we wonder why premiums are so high.As wrong as the guy is in the honda which he clearly is, wouldnt you think the guy in the vehicle with the camera would have took action to avoid the accident.Braked,gone in the road works or anything.He doesnt deserve a caravan.

You're right Seth, I wouldn't have had that accident! As I would have seen soon enough that the guy with the van on had got it wrong. And as much as I hate 'pushers' in I would rather give way than compromise the situation. Last thing I would do is show a film of me contributing to an accident if I'd had one (Fortunately never have)

The only folk that I have sympathy with are the ones who were held up by two idiots who shouldn't be on our roads (or any other for that matter!). Yes, whilst the driver of the Honda is in the wrong for trying to push in, I wonder whether the trucker would have exercised the "might is right" attitude had he been in his own car? Secondly, does his attitude apply when he's joining a motorway and there isn't a gap, when no doubt he will once again use the "might is right" way?

It's quite simple, if you get in the wrong lane, and there isn't a gap, go on to the next junction. After all, what's an extra bit of time and fuel compared with what we see here (or much worse if injury or fatalities result)?

Often a dashcam will be to your advantage in an accident. In this case it shows to the world that the truck driver was equally to blame.

Both drivers should be prosecuted for driving without due care and attention. Although the caravanner was very much in the wrong the lorry driver obviously doesn't use his mirrors otherwise he'd have seen what was obviously about to happen. Even if the trucker had sounded his horn it would have helped avoid the accident.
The sad part is that on the M6 around Junction 9 the motorway junctions are only a couple of miles apart anyway so it would have been easy for the caravanner to carry on and make his way back.

You have used the word "accident". This implies no one is to blame, but it is obvious this film shows that at least one driver was to blame.

In any collision if you dig deep enough you will find that at least one person will have done something they shouldn't. It may not have been intentional but it will not be strictly an accident. This is why the authorities no longer use the phrase RTA (Road Traffic Accident) but RTI (Road Traffic Incident).

Without any doubt in my mind the Honda CRV Driver has failed to make sure it was safe to change lanes before doing so and so is the prime cause of the incident. However the lorry driver whilst having right of way, also had time and space to take reasonable action to avoid a collision.

The trouble is, when there is a long tailback of traffic leaving
The Motorway and you try to push in rather than joining que, you stand a good chance of getting rear ended by faster moving traffic who are not leaving the motorway. You could also cause accidents with motors who have to go round you.
