Why is everything shrinking?

Have you noticed how many products in our supermarkets are shrinking while the price either stays the same or goes up?

Pringles have gradually gone down from 200g to 155g per tube, chocolate biscuits like Penguins seem smaller and some brands have less in the packet, baked beans seem to have more juice in the can than beans, has anyone else noticed this or is it just me?

And don't mention Waggon Wheels, soon they won't fit roller skates.

Of course, it's just a cunning ploy by the manufacturers hoping we won't notice, after all we are all conned by advertising.... aren't we??

I'm shrinking but I thought it was just because of my advancing years.

It comes about from the buzz word world.

'VALUE ENGINEERING'

We are more susseptable to price change (upwards) than subtle size change (downwards). It's about maximising profit for the producer but at the moment the food and drinks suppliers are using current day health and obesity concerns as a reason for the reduction in sizes of fizzy drinks and choccy bars and packets of crisps.

They are not going to say profit is behind it are they, funny that they don't reduce the prices

Also watch out for can sizes dropping to 300ml or less from 330 or 315ml.

Whisky and others have been doing the same trick for years.

75cl bottles were the norm and many have brought in 70cl and 50 and 35cl bottles.

70 proof was always the norm for most spirits, now there are a few dropped to 65proof.

In the UK there is less duty on lower proof spirits. So you can be getting less quantity and strength and pay the same and the seller and producer makes more.

But they are concerned for your health really

I'd not spotted the size of the whisky bottle shrinking, your right it is 70cl - perhaps thats why my husband gets through it so quickly !!

I've been finding that my trousers and tops are shrinking as well.

Could get into them last year but this year. Also finding that buttons are not as strong as they used to!!!
