Why so fast......?

I know this topic has been covered many times and I have posted a topic after a near miss last year, but why do people find it a must to drive around site towing their caravan a high speed ?

This weekend just gone we went to Longleat caravan club site, the first caravan club site we have been to since joining 5 years ago, and around teatime on Friday whilst my children and other children were playing and riding their bikes etc a large black Merc 4x4 towing an Avondale twin axle swept past at lighting speed looking for a vacant pitch. Not once did he do this circuit but three times before finding a suitable pitch. He drove by with no care or attention for other people or children, and god knows what if he had to brake suddenly.

I was in two minds about confronting him on this but thought against it and counted to ten.

People like this make my blood boil.

i would have stopped him on his second pass ,and had a polite word ,you have to say some thing for the safety of your children , then i would have reported the incident to the wardens

hello Danny,

it seems these people dont worry about others young children.they are simply morons, ive seen it many times,

a good idea is just report them to the management, which

ive done and it does work.very sad people.

Hi Danny,

These are the same sort of people who race down the M5 at 70 to 80m.p.h.putting everyone at risk. These people don't care about anyone else. What should be remembered is if you have a blow outthe caravan and car(4x4)go all over the motorway and people coming behind cop it.Thank goodness there are more sensible people towing there caravans(second homes)than there are these nutters who tow at high speeds.jimbob

Hi Danny

Since it was a Caravan Club site, there was a posted on site speed limit.

You should have reported it to the warden as some drivers never notice any signs.

The warden would have had a quiet word with the Merc driver and had the sanction of asking him to leave if he was not prepared to listen.

We noticed to our horror while at Hillhead CC site this earlier Year that drivers were still speeding around the site despite the accident that happened i think in York last Year, our pitch actually had a red 5mph speed sign on it clearly visable from the road and on a number of occasions i pointed to it as these moron's sped past, caravans, motorhomes & solo cars & most worringly of all wardens on their tractors. We like club sites but for the very first time in 18yrs of caravaning I am dissapointed with the way the club is being run, as none of the important rules they have made seem to be being upheld or policed, I know wardens rely on the people staying on site to inform them of such activities but on numerous occasions i saw cars speeding past where the wardens were working & as far as I could tell they didn't lift an eyebrow.

Hi Michael

Whilst at Broadway CC site a couple of weekends ago a red Golf was going too fast with van in tow, the warden stoed him and told him not to slow down, all in full view of the people around the toilet block
