Rob, How many of the BBC editorial team do you think own caravans? They do not just hate caravans they hate all forms of private transport. As Jeremy Packsman said regarding the BBC's attitude to climate change " They gave up impartiality a long time ago".

If there were a referendum tomorrow on ditching the licence fee and making the BBC self fianancing the response would be an overwhlming YES vote.

Robert

Probably the same sad reason as they love to stab the national football team and it best players in the back.

The same reason as they report badly on Major British companies who dare to make good profits

The same reason as they hound high profile celebs and Royals.

The articles sell papers and make very cheep and easily watchable TV. It seems that money or producing something on the cheap is all that matters.

I have to admit to being creased up by the Top gear caraving episode despite it being totaly contrived and mis representational.

The Top Gear episode was BRILLIANT! A true comedy gem.

I've found the easiest way to shut people up when they start taking the p*ss out of caravanning - and THEY always bring up the Top Gear thing to great hilarity - is to laugh hysterically and start quoting different parts of the sketch and say how brilliant I thought it was.

It's amazing how soon they change the subject!

They pick on us because we are to weak and don't stand up for ourselves.

Caravan Club, C&CC and the Caravan industry should be a little more pro-active and bolshie and set about the press and others who dare to mock and moan.

Anthony Said "jeremy you can only go the same speed as caravanners by law "

Err ... wrong, cars and caravans/trailers can only go 60mph on a motorway/daul c-way and 50mph on a single c-way.

Ooops !!

Rubix, lets not get into a conversation over 10 miles per hour you`re getting a bit picky now yes you are right but i was just generalising i.e. 30 mph is 30 mph, 40 is 40,50 is 50 and so onwhat i meant was there is no need for a 200mph car on our 70mph motorways!!!!!!!!!!!

Unfortunately the majority of the British public are thick enough to take what Clarkson says seriously, the rest of us see it for what it is, a light hearted, very funny, magazine show based on motoring, probably the funniest show on TV. The entire series of the Vicar Of Dibley couldn't raise as many laughs as 5 minutes of Top Gear. Yes the guy is irresponsible, I myself, have found a clear stretch of road and taken my bike up to 150mph and I really don't give a hoot what the likes of John L say about that, I'm safer than the old codger that crawls along at 40mph in a 60 zone and stays at 40 when the enter our village past the school.

There are a lot of us caravanners out there that really are a pain in the arse to other travellers, travelling too slow, not pulling over when there's a convoy behind (with us, it's usually the Nissan Micra in front of us that's the problem!!)or travelling too fast and flipping their outfit on the M5.

A cr*p driver in a car just blends into the background but a cr*p driver with a van on the back is identified as a "Caravanner" and tags the rest of us with the same label.

The advantage with doing all this, is that they keep all the tossers away from this excellent hobby.

Clarkson does not complain at all the HGV's stuck at 40mph on single carriageways.

I find if I drive my car at 50mph no one overtakes, but on the same stretch doing same speed with the van they have to. Let em queue at the airport.
