We did the Santander run which was only one night on the ferry. You will have to switch the fridge off and for your two night sailing others on the forum have previously suggested taking an electric cool box which you can chill before you leave home - plug into your car - then take up to the cabin and plug in for the duration (you may have to take a plug adaptor). When you get to site perhaps put fridge on gas to start off to chill it down quicker before transferring anything you have from the cool box.

Greetings,

Sorry to be the barer of bad news but, (assuming we are talking caravan) your battery will not supply your fridge when the outfit is in the boat. The battery only supplies the fridge when you are on the move. So as soon as you switch off the ignition it will cease to supply.

Further to that, it is also good practice to unplug the leads from the car to the 'van as it is noty unknown for the battery to be drained whilst on the ferry leaving you with a red face and flat battery on arrival.

Previous good ideas for keeping the inside of the fridge cold are to freeze lemonade bottles,(not full and plastic only)and put a couple inside the fridge. As they thaw they will keep the fridge cold.

Have a good trip. Feruary (our next Spanish trip) seems a long way off.

Hi

We did the Santander run from Portsmouth in June. On our outfit the fridge definitely doesn't cool without the car engine running whilst travelling. We put in a couple of foil blankets which you freeze down before putting in. Fitted over the food, didn't take up much space and worked fine. They are called Polar Gear Ice Packs and are easily found on google. I think Amazon sell them.

If the weather is good its well worth getting up a bit early to watch the dolphions in the Bay of biscay. We saws hundreds, sometimes over 20 at a time. Beautiful to watch.
