Window Frame Rubber

I am having to replace a LH side and bottom window frame timber. On removing the Rubber seal I could see staples at various points round the inside of the rubber, i.e. where the rubber was stapled to the timber. However, these staples could not be seen from above the rubber. i.e. around the frame with the rubber in situ. Is this rubber actually two parts ? Or how is it stapled to the frame ?

Jim, the window rubbers are a one piece item, with mastic on the inside of the outer lip and horizontal "sill", there is no masic on the inner lip.

The staples are fired though the "sill" part and covered with the filler strip, which is on the inside of the window.

Yes, understand the make up of the window frame seal and filler strip now. The more you get into a job the more construction detail of the caravan becomes apparent.

I am now pondering whether to replace the whole window frame. The timber on the other sides seems fine, but as 10 years old and the wallboard is off I may replace it. I want the job done right and only once. Thinking is free
