Hi

We bought a pukka cover for our van and used it last winter, we washed the van a week before putting the cover on and ensured it was entirely dry when we put the cover on - a few days later. when we took it off the van was covered with blotches, like shiny patches. i'm reluctant to use it this year.

has anyone else had a similar experience? if so do you know why?

cheers

Hi Howard.

I've never been a great lover of covers. I tried one years ago and noticed it flapped a bit in the wind. The windows all ended up scratched. I accept there are some very good makes out there but not for me.

I bought my caravan with a 6 year water ingress guarantee so it shouldn't need a cover.

Cheers

hi howard.i am new to caravaning,i too bought a cover to use on my new van,but i have not used it and i never will.i have read similar problems with covers so my way of thinking is let the van breathe.when not in use i close all the blinds to stop sunlight fading fabrics,i open all cupboard doors top and bottom, plus washroom door, and i lift up the fixed bed on its hindge to allow max airflow.just let the van breathe as much as poss,i think a cover will restrict natural air flow around roof vents and skylights and will lead to mold and damp.this is just my advise but i hope it helps...nigel.

Hi Nigel

Thanks for comments - i posted this on Equipment thread this morning:-

"Most interested to read your comments re the Pro Tech cover, I bought one for last winter, we washed the van a few days before and put the cover on after a few days of breeze, I made sure it was dry and free of grit. When we took the cover of this year it was and still is (windows included) covered in the blotches which I cannot get off. I e mailed Pro Tech but got no response.
