Winter in France

Probably similar to the south of the UK I suspect. Possibly some good days, but also a good number of Atlantic lows. You could be lucky and have a very mild wintter, or you get pretty much what we get.

Hi Richard,

Try this http://www.loire-gites.com/content/Camping.asp The chap who runs this site is English and I am sure he would answer your questions if you e-mailed him ( I Think ) he does sometimes post on here so you may be lucky.

I am indeed the chap Frank mentioned in the post above. We've been here for two winters now and both have been completely different. The first was cold (very cold sometimes) but dry, with the most vivid blue skies and a frost every morning. However, the sun came out and burned off the frost while remaining chiily. That I don't mind as you can wrap up against the cold. There was a bit of snow which made for some very pretty landscape photo's around these parts as well as some great snowball fights with the kids in the garden and snowmen too! That according to our French friends is a 'normal' Loire valley winter. Last winter was appalling. It was wet, grey & miserable for much of the time. Again, our French friends say that this is not normal. I believe that the UK and most of northern europe have suffered with abnormal weather conditions this year and we're hoping that things get back to normal this year! Hope that helps?
