Winter site closure, Pons, France

the Moulins de la Vergne just to the north of Pons which has been open all year and a good night halt at this time of year en route to Spain has closed this weekend probably until February.
This is a nuisance as there are very few sites open in the area - a reasonable day's drive from St Malo. The CC book shows one under Mirambeau which is about 30 minutes south of Pons but the site is actually right over on the banks of the Gironde with some very thin looking roads to get there.

Does anyone know of any other reasonable NH in this area open between Christmas and New Year ? (Caravan so don't use Aires)

.....you should be able to detour to this site from your route via Marans/ La Rochelle and rejoin the A10 via the A837 the next day.

I have stayed at the site many times in the summer months but it is open all year round.
May be worth double checking your dates direct with site to make doubly sure if you decide to use the site.
I can help with route information or the Satnav co-ordinates of the site entrance if required.

Many thanks, Gafferbill - these look nice sites but unfortunately they are too far north for my purposes outbound.

Between Christmas and New Year I try to get right down into Spain near Mojacar and my usual two overnights from saint Malo have been Pons and Sabinan (CC book under Calatayud) which mean very long driving days but once there - that's it.

Ideally I would like a site at or near Bordeaux as we get off the ferry early morning at St. Malo and are down at Pons mid afternoon with a couple of hours left of daylight and driving time, the miles coming off the next day. I've tried a whole variety of sites round Bordeaux but most have been very muddy, unfriendly or otherwise not good. There is a big site on the Bordeaux ring road but the access from the autoroute is exceptionally poor and dangerous and the site appears to cater for a large number of itinerants.

Many of my friends use the short channel crossing and then Le Futuriste near Poitiers and La Rouletta near St Jean de Luz but geographically the short crossings are so far out of our way from Somerset as to make them uneconomic.

Thanks again for the details of the other sites - may well use them on the way home
