Ok, now that our milder weather tourers will be leaving us soon , ( end of October). For those of us that tour all year round where are you favourite sites. Wether they be cl/cs, big or small sites, club or not. Getting fed up with the Two big clubs.
Thanks Hutch.

We tend to use relatively local CL's and CS's over the winter months, don't venture much further down than Derbyshire. Always plenty open all year but not always within your pottering to the pub distance. Can't be doing with main club sites at any time of the year and really only belong to them both to access the CL/CS network and insurance/breakdown services.

We are the same, club sites for us in the winter in bad weather and hard standing don't want to be mucking the caravan up & walking up to your eyes in mud and getting stuck on Cls . Hard standing for us

We use only club sites in winter and have to have hard standing. We do not usually book ahead but go out when the weather forecast looks reasonable. November this year is out as the caravan will be in for repair and with a big family Christmas arranged time out in December looks unlikely..

We tend to use a couple of sites on the South Coast in the winter. Serviced hardstanding pitches for £18 per night including access to sister site leisure and fitness facilities, on the edge of the New Forest. The other is on the edge of Swanage. Have done Xmas on one of them.

A CL near Bristol with hardstandings pitches. Another near Alton Towers just past the JCB HQ.

If you want to do Longleaf CAMC site there is a rally there every december that enables a visit to the lantern festival, for less than normal pitch fee.

Littlehampton CAMC site is well worth a visit in winter, bracing walks along the coast and a great fish & chip shop, Fred's.

In the current CAMC magazine is a map showing all the year round sites.

For us, over winter we tend to use the network of Morris Leisure sites, very clean, great facilities if a tad expensive.
Access is always good and their hard standings are easy to use.
Access and egress is important for me as we tow using a rear wheel drive BMW and even the mention of soft ground is enough to spin the wheels :0)

As above really, camc sites in winter, good rates(for a family) as kids usually only £1 or so.More though we find bargains out of season at commercial sites, for instance our half term(up north) must be after the south,as were off to sandy balls for £15 a night for a family in a couple of weeks, bargain.
So if want a change try something like that, you don't have to use the pool etc, fully serviced pitch, and go for walks(to pub obviously ;) )

We are out all winter- not every day but about half of the time. Generally not too far to tow with the short days (we can only access storage when it is light), and then with hard standing or good ground. Mainly club sites, (can't afford them in the summer!) and the odd commercial. We also do some rallies. The main thing is that there have to be things to do in bad weather so we go to Chester Fairoaks, near Chester and Liverpool, Devizes for Bath, and a site between Leicester and Melton, for Christmas shopping. Any more suggestions welcome.

Devizes is a nice site and plenty to do and see in the area. What is the name of the site between Leicester and Melton?
