In our Kia Sedone we have a centurion DVD plaver under the drivers seat with thescreen in the roof The children use th supplied wireless headphones. Recently the headphones have got a lot of background hiss and you can hardly hear the DVD. If you turn up the volume on the head phones the hissing gets louder also.

Any one know the reasons why the hissing exists ???

Kia dealer wants to replace the unit or have it in for fault diagnosis !

Any offers of advice are welcomed !

Hello Niel,

Your write that the 'headphones' plural?

If both sets are producing the same noise, then first of all check that the batteries in the headphones are in good condition. It is possible that both sets have discharged at the same rate and so both headphones have developed the same noise.

Otherwise it is some thing to do with the transmitter.

You do not say if the headphones use infra-red or radio. If it is infra red, check that the transmission LED's are not obscured.

If it uses radio, then check the aerial connections are fully made.

If none of the above it is almost certainly a service call to the dealer.

Perhaps a connection cable has become partly detached. fully charged, otherwise

Hi Neil,

As john said the first thing is to look at the batteries as this and transmitter problems as normally the cause.Look at the replacing the batteries first.

Yep thanks guys , new batteries all round and even in the remote control.

I think they are infra red and the transmitter (???) is just about the screen in the roof unit.

Local car audio place want about
