Wish one is best for towing?

We love the look of the Nissan X Trail 2,2 diesel, handy not having the back wheel on the back door it look very roomly inside as well and we like the Freelander TD4 as well I think the insurance will be cheaper on the TD4, Wish one would you go for and why, Thank you for your time, Trevor

Drive them both and see which you prefer. Other people will tell you their thoughts probably introducing 10 other cars into the equation, but drive them both and see for yourself. Don't forget the Freelander 2 is about to launch and having sat in it feels a much better quality car than my wife's TD4 SE auto

Hi Trevor

I agree with Paul's comments and would add the following points -

Check out reviews on What Car and don't worry too much about insurance cost differences.

If you intend to tow a caravan bear in mind that the TD4 is underpowered compared to the Nissan (110bhp td4 , 134bhp x Trail) and 2 secs slower to 60mph. This will make a difference when towing.

The Td4 is better off road.

Reliability wise, the X Trail wins easily.

I road tested a nunber of 4X4's and was very impressed by the X Trail, it was rapid and had lots of room inside.

The TD4 felt exactly the opposite, lethargic and confined.

Thats purely my opinion. you may feel differently.

The new Freelander has had some good reviews but I understand they will increase the price substantially above the outgoing models price.
